Magnolio


Our Magnolio syrup is a cold-steeped, concentrated syrup made from Southern magnolia blossoms and pinecones. 

We make our Magnolio much like traditional Swiss mugolio, with young flower buds and leaves, cane sugar, and local honey that commingle together for six months before straining, boiling, and bottling. We even add some young pinecones to the mix, for good measure, and a touch of our housemade magnolia vinegar. The resulting syrup blossoms on the nose with heady floral aromas and a touch of outdoorsy musk. The texture is thick enough to hold onto a cracker but readily mixes into cocktails, coffee, or a glass of seltzer. 

Use Magnolio like a fine balsamic vinegar or a dark maple syrup. You can drizzle it over cheese, ice cream, and granola for a dose of springtime, or glaze roast meats with it for a heady holiday verve. It’s a marvelous mixer for cocktails—try it in a Virginia-accented Aviation—and it’s complex enough to form the basis for an alcohol-free drink. And have we mentioned pancakes? You have to try it on pancakes.
